As for humble beginnings, Subtronics’ start in music was definitely… modest, to say the least. He began releasing his first few songs in collaboration with a few small dubstep and EDM artists like Midnight Tyrannosaurus, Zeds Dead, and more.

In his career thus far, Subtronics has had his fair share of setbacks. After periodically releasing songs and continuing to grow an audience on Soundcloud and beyond, Subtronics faced something no artist should have to go through: his Soundcloud ended up being hacked, and the hacker deleted and published a handful of his drafted songs. Not long after, Soundcloud purged its platform of thousands of producers' work due to wrongful copyright claims. Subtronics was hit hard by this, with a total of 23 songs being lost forever. Looking at him now, it’s hard to believe anything has ever held him back: he’s touring the country for the greater half of this year and just released his sixteenth album in 2024. Subtronics is a genre bending master. While all of his music can (rather obviously) be defined as EDM, the genre itself has many subcategories, and Subtronics plays with them all. You can find elements of riddim, dubstep, and house, just to name a few. And that’s barely scratching the surface: he’s also known to remix songs from countless genres from pop to rock to hip hop. This masterful blend of genres is exactly why people flock towards his music; they want dub music with feeling, not just a nasty beat.
