The Beach Boys are the literal definition of surf rock and are truly the first West Coast garage band. Formed just outside of Los Angeles in the early 60s, the boys have always been known for their eclectic harmonies and mixing of multiple genres - like pop rock, R&B, jazz, classical, and a whole lot of surf. Just off the heels of their 2024 documentary, The Beach Boys, the group is back in the mainstream conversation. The doc features archival footage from their tours, and interviews from the original members of the group as well. You can find it on Netflix - and is definitely recommended to check out before you catch them in Red Rocks this summer. With over 100 million records sold worldwide, and still toting over 11 million monthly listeners sixty years into their career, The Beach Boys just may be the most successful pop rock band in the world. They have conquered accolades from all major platforms, and were ranked number 12 on Rolling Stone’s early 2000s list of best artists of all time. The founding members of the group are in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and there isn’t much left for the group to accomplish than a few more victory laps around the globe. That’s why their link up with The Colorado Symphony is so special and unique.
The Colorado Symphony is located in Denver, Colorado and established itself in 1989 with their home located in the Boettcher Concert Hall. They perform compositions from the greats such as Beethoven and Beck, as well as educational and holiday programs throughout their regular season. They are currently led under the direction of Peter Oundjian, and are beloved by the entire Denver community, and Colorado at large. They draw crowds of thousands on a normal day, and their mash up with the Beach Boys is sure to draw new fans for decades to come.
We are uber excited about this show and can’t wait to see how the two groups with deep histories coexist under one stage, one sound! You won’t want to miss this one, and we got you covered on your tix! Grab ‘em today, and we’ll see you on August 3rd!
