Umphrey's McGee, the jam band originally from the Chicago area, has been a popular name in the music world for the past two decades, and the band has been headlining Red Rocks every year since 2000. This year is no different as they will be headlining a two-night concert event at the famous Colorado venue this June 16 and 17. This year is extra special as the six-piece jam band, composed of Brendan Bayliss, Joel Cummins, Ryan Stasik, Andy Farag, Jake Cinninger, and Kris Myers, is celebrating the 25th anniversary in the jam band scene.
To sum up the 25 years of Umphrey's McGee to their 21 studio albums, 18 live albums, and a few EPs, singles, and compilations will be an understatement. The band has become a force within the jam band scene with their distinctive style that is satisfying to listen to. UM's sound is characterized by a fusion of rock, jazz, and funk, with additional influences from metal and progressive rock. In addition to being largely an improvising jam band, the tracks on "Greatest Hits Vol. III," "The Bottom Half," and their most recent project, "Asking For A Friend," all have tight, well-written structures that provide the band lots of room to explore and evolve their sound. Both the loose, exploratory jams that characterize their live performances and the more tightly-structured songs that highlight the band's musical abilities on their studio albums serve as evidence of this.
The upcoming shows at Red Rocks will also mark Moe's to the legendary venue, which they last played in 2019. Although founding guitarist Chuck Garvey recently sat in with the band for a long period of time during their New Year's Eve event in Philadelphia, it is still being determined if he will be participating in the next Red Rock performances. Either way, this will be a concert experience all fans must experience. See them live on the first night of their 2-night concert on June 16. To reserve your tickets, click the "Get Tickets" link.
