Gov’t Mule, led by the illustrious singer-songwriter and guitarist Warren Hayes, will hold an extremely rare series of Pink Floy tribute shows to celebrate the band’s groundbreaking album. The jam band’s first endeavor into the British band’s music was in 2008 when they held an exceptional Halloween performance in Boston. The concert was recorded, and Gov’t Mule eventually released it as a live album titled Dark Side of the Mule in 2014. The 14-track album contains three-hours worth of music and covers all the staples, including “Money,” “One of These Days,” “Fearless,” and many more. This live set has been performed a handful of times over the years, but this 2023 is the first time the band will embark on a full tribute tour. According to Haynes, he didn’t expect that the one-time event would turn into something else. “This all started so organically with what we thought would be a one-time Halloween performance. Since then, Dark Side of the Mule has grown into something else. It’s a blast to perform this material, but our intent is to do it for one final tour in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Dark Side. Don’t miss it!”
Jam rock band Gov’t Mule emerged in 1994 from Atlanta, Georgia. Frontman Haynes and bassist Allen Woody from the Allman Brothers jumpstarted the band as a side project. The following year, they released their self-titled debut album. Since their inception, the band has steadily become one of North America's most in-demand live acts. They rose to prominence in the 2000s with notable studio albums, such as The Deep End Volume 1 and 2, By a Thread, Millennium, and more.
