Micha Davis, better known as Masego, is a Jamaican-American singer, songwriter, and musician famous for incorporating his talent with the saxophone in his songs. He was thrust into the spotlight in 2017 when “Tadow,” a song collaboration between him and FKJ, topped the US Billboard Charts in USA R&B.
Masego has two songs with RIAA certifications, namely “Tadow” with FKJ and “Mystery Lady” with Don Toliver. He also has a history of collaboration with Kehlani, and he was featured in her hit song, “Hate the Club.”
The Guardian described Masego as one of the most talented artists, saying, “[he] can sing seductively and play sax, piano, cello, and guitar, but knows not to peacock. The key is the space in the arrangements, effortlessly vanishing trap and jazz into the house, hip-hop, and many other genres with a rhythmic charge, propelling the ghostly harmonies he deploys so cleverly.”
Hiatus Kaiyote is a three-time Grammy Award nominee and has received several significant awards for their music, including “Best Emerging Artist” and “Best Victorian Song” at the Music Victoria Awards. They are an Australian band formed in Melbourne and composed of members singer/guitarist Nai Palm, bassist Paul Bender, keyboardist Simon Mavin, and drummer Perrin Moss.
They were hailed as the first Australian act to be nominated for a Grammy Award in the R&B category. They were nominated for “Best R&B Performance” because of their outstanding hit, “Nakamarra.” Catch some of their best hits, “Mood Valiant” and “Choose Your Weapon,” live when you come to the show.
To date, the band has a total of four albums and two extended plays. They are amazing composers and arrangers - although they struggle with people mistaking them for a jam band. “Do you know how intricate and specific all these arrangements are? Everything is super intentional. Just because people don’t understand the complexity of it, they’re like, “Oh, it’s messy. So it must be improvised.” It takes away from our credit as arrangers and composers,” Nei Palm retorted in an interview.
Catch these talented artists live onstage for a night of good music! Save the date because, on the 2nd of October, 2023, they’re headed to the Red Rocks Amphitheatre for a dazzling night.
