Red Rocks Amphitheatre
On Friday, June 14, laughter will pierce the skies above the Red Rock Amphitheatre because Steve Martin & Martin Short are taking their A-game to the next level! Kick off your summer with a guffaw as “The Dukes of Funnytown” tour lays waste to the US in six sidesplitting dates with Jeff Babko and the Steep Canyon Rangers. Honorary Academy Award recipient Steve Martin and Tony Award winner Martin Short meet again to rip each other a new one with hilariously scathing quips, a style made possible through decades of friendship. The two starred in the 1986 “Three Amigos” film and have been touring the national circuit together since 2015. Recently, they’ve also been investigating crime scenes with Selena Gomez in the hit mystery series, “Only Murders in the Building.” Thankfully, they won’t be doing that at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Instead, they’ll be taking advantage of its natural acoustics and scenic views to give you one hell of a show, so get your tickets now!
Audiences beware. This standup show is nothing like you've ever seen before because here, you're not just getting one, but TWO of comedy's most celebrated legends—Steve Martin AND Martin Short - The Dukes Of Funnytown LIVE on stage! Starting this summer, our headlining tag team will tour the United States, joined by special guests Jeff Babko and the Steep Canyon Rangers in a six-show stint, including a Friday night special at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre on June 14.
"The energy these guys had at 73 and 77 put me to shame at almost half their age. I expected some good fun, but my face hurt from laughter after the show. I can't recommend it enough."
You've yet to witness the fullest extent of comedy if you've never seen Steve Martin and Martin Short verbally tearing each other apart with preternatural comedic timing. Decades of friendship come with plenty of perks, and these two are making the most out of them to get you howling out of breath.
When you take them apart, Steve and Martin are formidable performers who guarantee a night well spent. Together, they're a hysterical force of nature very few others can match. Their most recent breakout venture is the hit Hulu whodunnit, "Only Murders in the Building" with Selena Gomez, though their career entanglement dates back to 1986 in the Western comedy "Three Amigos." They've been touring in tandem since 2015 and released their first Netflix special, the Primetime Emmy-nominated "An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life," in 2018. Regarding individual accolades, Steve Martin boasts an Honorary Academy Award, an Emmy, and five Grammy Awards, while Martin Short has two Emmys, one Tony Award, and two Outer Critics Circle Awards.
Special guest Jeff Babko is a famed keyboardist most would recognize as a house band member in Jimmy Kimmel Live and as Martin Short's touring musical director since 2002. The Steep Canyon Rangers, on the other hand, are a bluegrass group that often forms a sextet with Steve Martin in his banjoist form. They're also widely known for their Grammy Award-winning solo album, "Nobody Knows You," which features smooth hits like "Rescue Me" and "Easy To Love."
It's not your regular standup venue, but the Red Rocks Amphitheatre makes for a one-of-a-kind viewing with its breathtaking vistas of red sandstone. The two titanic rock structures framing the stage offer naturally occurring acoustics, while state-of-the-art stage lighting elevates the show with picture-perfect clarity.
