Four decades ago, four musicians banded together to pay tribute to one of the greatest music acts of all time. 1964: The Tribute was not just another The Beatles cover group. They actually dedicated their entire music career to performing the iconic singles that probably made the music industry into what it is today. For instance, co-founder Gary Grimes played the role of Paul McCartney until his retirement. He famously told his father that he would continue playing The Beatles until they (the audience) stopped coming. But they never did. Four decades later, the group’s updated lineup continues to deliver The Beatle’s finest hits.
The tribute band portrays members as close to the original as possible. The band aims to deliver authenticity and the likeness of the legendary John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. In a statement, co-founder Mark Benson credited the band for their incredible music. “You have to credit the Beatles with revolutionizing the sound-reinforcement industry.” Today, 1964: The Tribute performs 30 songs per show. The band had made sure that they covered all the fan favorites, from “Twist and Shout,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” “All My Loving,” “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” and more.
During some shows, fans can also get treated to covers from other renowned artists like Johnny Russell, Meredith Willson, Carl Perskin, and The Top Notes. Their incredible encore is a mash-up of sorts, which is a mixture of “Rock and Roll Music,” “Matchbox,” “Roll Over Beethoven,” and “Long Tall Sally.”
