The Alabama Shakes are an American rock band formed in Athens, Alabama in 2009. The lead singer, Brittany Howard, recruited Heath Fogg and Zac Cockrell to form the group - and the rest is rock and roll history. Starting as a Friday night bar band that toured America’s south east for the first years of their career, they released their debut album, Boys & Girls, in 2012. Their album found huge critical acclaim, being nominated for 3 Grammys and allowing them to tour for months and for hundreds of thousands of rock fans. They honed their sound for their second album, Sound & Color, and the public agreed - scoring a number 1 on the Billboard 200 in its 2015 release, and picking up the three Grammys along the way. Now, the group is refined and more focused than ever after their eight year hiatus and ready to hit the main stage again. They performed a surprise show last December in Tuscaloosa, and it was absolutely massive. The crowd screamed as they took the stage, and wailed along to Howard’s powerful voice as they hummed her soothing melodies.
Lee Fields is an American Soul and Blues singer from North Carolina. His career, which has spanned fifty years and seen him play in front of crowds for hundreds of thousands, is nothing short of spectacular. He has worked with household superstar names like B.B. King, The Manhattans, Travis Scott, and James Brown to name a few. After eight critically acclaimed albums and music that has reached all corners of the world, there is little left for Fields to do. Any time that he takes the stage at this point in his career is a treat, and Red Rocks will be no exception. His top songs, All I Need, Honey Dove, and Wish You Were Here have been sampled and featured in many areas of contemporary pop culture and music, so make sure to listen out for those melodies during the show.
