Red Rocks Amphitheatre
The legendary hip hop duo Atmosphere is teaming up with some of the best rappers and hip hop heavyweights out there! This fall, they are throwing a huge rager and you’re invited! The party is being hosted at none other than the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater. For this super exciting event, Atmosphere’s rapper Slug and DJ/producer Ant will be joined by a pool of talent from the hip hop underground scene. We’re talking pros like Hieroglyphics, Dilated Peoples, Living Legends, CunninLynguists, Immortal Technique and Deejaybird. If you didn't already know, Hieroglyphics is an epic underground hip hop collective based out of Oakland, California. Meanwhile, Dilated Peoples is the hip hop trio who brought us epic chart-climbing tracks like "This Way" and "Worst Comes to Worst." Also joining the mix is supergroup Living Legends, among others. The crew is rightfully considered by LA Weekly to be "one of the biggest success stories of the indie-rap movement, having sold millions of units collectively — all by them-damn-selves." Atmosphere is an awesome hip-hop duo hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The group consists of rapper Slug (aka Sean Daley) and DJ/producer Ant (Anthony Davis). Since they burst onto the scene in 1996, Atmosphere has released thirteen epic studio albums and ten extended plays. MC Slug and DJ/producer Ant founded the record label Rhymesayers Entertainment in 1995, the festival Soundset in 1997, as well as the popular record store Fifth Element in 1999.
This show will see Atmosphere take to the stage alongside other heavyweights on the scene, including Hieroglyphics, Dilated Peoples, Living Legends, CunninLynguists, Immortal Technique, and Deejaybird.
Hieroglyphics is an epic underground hip hop collective based out of Oakland, California. The band includes founder Del the Funky Homosapien, fellow rappers Casual, Pep Love, as well as all four members of the group Souls of Mischief, including Phesto, A-Plus, Opio, and Tajai. DJ Toure and producer/manager Domino will also join the mix.
Dilated Peoples is another legendary American hip hop group. The Los Angeles-based trio is composed of rapper and record producer Evidence, rapper Rakaa, as well as Beat Junkies deejay and record producer DJ Babu. The three piece often dominates the UK charts with Top 40 songs, like "This Way" and "Worst Comes to Worst". Their tracks are so awesome that they were featured in the 2003 video games Need for Speed: Underground and NBA Street Vol. 2, as well as MLB 06: The Show.
Living Legends is another American hip hop supergroup. Hailing from California, the crew consists of legendary indie hip hop artists. Born out of the mid 1990s, Living Legends gained a huge following by recording, promoting and performing their music independently via Legendary Music. The crew is rightfully considered by LA Weekly to be "one of the biggest success stories of the indie-rap movement, having sold millions of units collectively — all by them-damn-selves."
CunninLynguists is also joining the mix. The Kentucky hip hop group is made up of Deacon the Villain, Kno, and Natti. Witty lyrics and cutting-edge productions have made CunninLynguists favorites among the underground rap scene.
Other special guests include Immortal Technique and Deejaybird.
