Red Rocks Amphitheatre
The world has ended... but not for the people of the wasteland, no, an old horror has arisen. Tyranical warlords now rule, with pain, suffering, and an iron fist clutched desperately around what little resources are left... oh, and with a Doof Wagon, definitely don't forget that, it's f***ing amazing!
Denver film presents, Film On The Rox: Mad Max - Fury Road at Red Rocks Amphitheater on Monday, August 19th 2024.
The desert car chases, the practical effects, the flames, and fireballs, the f***ing crazy circus guys on poles swinging from car to truck... at speed... and there's a guy swinging from a rig, playing an electric guitar that doubles as a flamethrower... this whole thing is nuts. Oh right, Mad Max, yeah, he says what? Something like 5 words in the whole film? Excellent storyline, easy to follow, hilarious, sad, and action packed! Get your tickets today!
Film on The Rocks is back for yet another summer season, and once again the screen is plastered with action, laugh out loud moments, and edge of your seat spectacles. The 2024 lineup includes; THE MATRIX, SHREK, THE WIZARD OF OZ, DEADPOOL and MAD MAX: FURY ROAD. The summer series combines some of the best in culture, views, and cult classics. It’s a movie experience like no other.
Mad Max: Fury Road. Directed by George Miller, and starring Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, and Nicholas Hoult, oh and the real star, Sean Hape (Iota) as The Doof Warrior!
The film is straightforward: "In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a woman rebels against a tyrannical ruler, in a huge armored war rig, to search for her homeland with a group of female prisoners, a psychotic worshiper and a drifter named Max. They attempt to outrun the ruthless warlord and his army of henchmen in a deadly high-speed chase across the Wasteland."
Interestingly, almost all the special effects are practical, you see something blow up, they really blew it up, the war rig crashing through a canyon... yup it's real. About the only VFX is Furiosa's prosthetic arm. Also, Max doesn't exactly only say 5 words in the whole film... he has 52 lines... in total.
Looking ahead, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is due to be released this May. Starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth, the film will be a prequel to 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road. The highly anticipated new film has already had critic reviews, with IndieWire’s David Ehrlich describing the film as “really, really f***ing good.” And also that it, “operates in an extremely different gear than Fury Road (in ways that I suspect will frustrate some people), but also manages to make that movie even richer while carving its own legend in the Wasteland.”
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will be the 5th film in the series, and writer/director George Miller has already come out saying he plans more. "In doing what we did in the preparation of Mad Max: Fury Road, we also wrote what happened to Max in the year before we encounter him in [that film]. And as we get towards the end of this movie, the chronology... Basically, we had to see that Mad Max was lurking around somewhere because we do know what happened. The writers know what happened to Mad Max in that year before, and we have a whole story of that, which I would like to do sometime if I get the chance."
