Many regard Ice Cube as a watershed figure in the annals of the rap scene. He brought to the mainstream consciousness the intensity of gangsta rap. His angry beats and "sting-like-a-bee" words have made him famous. He was a member of the iconic N.W.A. hip-hop group. It cannot be denied that the group has contributed a lot to how the genre developed over the years. Their influence among new artists is undeniable. Their hit single "Straight Outta Compton" catapulted Ice Cube to fame. Then, this song would play a significant role in the hip-hop movement of the 1990s.
Right at the end of the 80s, young Ice Cube decided to go solo. He debuted "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted" in 1990, which set the scene for rap music in the 90s. The album was both acclaimed and controversial. Nonetheless, it is considered a hip-hop classic. He followed this with hit after hit. "Death Certificate" (1991), "The Predator" (1992), "Lethal Injection," and "War & Peace Vol. 1 (The War Disc)" (1998) solidified his presence in the hip-hop scene in the course of the decade. "War & Peace Vol. 1 (The War Disc)" is paired with the 2000 released "War & Peace Vol. 2 (The Peace Disc)."
The 90s was also the time when he became a full-fledged actor. He first appeared in the coming-of-age movie Boyz n the Hood. The success of this movie brought Ice Cube's career to the screen.
As the 2000s came, he released four more albums. "Laugh Now, Cry Later" was his comeback album after not recording for half a decade. Critics and listeners accepted it warmly. Three more albums succeeded, with "Everythang's Corrupt" being his most recent.
On April 19, Ice Cube will perform at the Red Rocks Amphitheater. Ticket sales for this concert are already available. You can get yours through the "Get Tickets" link.
