Red Rocks Amphitheatre
Hey there, Morrison! What’s up Red Rockers! For your Fourth of July weekend this year, we’re happy to interrupt your regularly scheduled family forward program for a little bit of symphony and brass for your listening pleasure. Filled with loads of Garcia devotees, a diverse line up of instruments from different parts of the ether, and more anniversaries than just that of our country’s - it’s time to get ready to party! Because Jerry Garcia’s Symphonic Celebration is back in town!
Yep! You heard us correct even with all the music blaring in the background. Jerry Garcia - the late lead singer and guitarist for the Grateful Dead and legendary rocker and songwriter who has a loyal fanbase of devotees that sing his stories even decades later. They're all teaming up to put on a show with The Colorado Symphony this summer - and literally everyone’s going to be there! And we hope you will be too!
Tickets for the Sunday, July 6th showcase are on sale right now and starting at $111 for the day. Don’t wait! Grab yours today and let’s get ready to jam!
Everyone here at Red Rocks is so excited to welcome Jerry Garcia’s crew to Morrison (right outside of Denver!) for a night of fun jams and even better vibes. On July 6th, join us for Jerry’s third Symphonic Celebration here at Red Rocks that will feature performances from prominent cover artists of Grateful Dead music - including Melvin Seals, Jacklyn Labranch, Oteil Burbridge, Tom Hamilton, Duane Trucks, and Lady Chi. Combine that with the fact that The Colorado Symphony will be playing his hits all night long in the key of harmony, and you’ll quickly realize this is a show you don’t want to miss. Coming back to Red Rocks for the first time in three summers (the Symphonic Celebration last came to town for Jerry’s 80th birthday in the summer of 2022), this will absolutely be a once in a lifetime show you just don’t want to miss.
Jerry Garcia was the lead singer and frontman for The Grateful Dead during the entirety of their thirty year run, serving as the guitarist, vocalist, and co-founder of the project that saw each member skyrocket into international acclaim long before their internet super rise over the last decade. Formed in 1965 in Palo Alto, the Grateful Dead was technically a rock band - but often combined blues, jazz, bluegrass, reggae, and psychedelia into their work that has carried their sounds across generations. And even better than their officially released tracks are their live performances - filled with improv and new melodies popping up right on stage. The band highly encouraged their crowds to record their sets for memories and to share with others who couldn’t make it, which helped their popularity soar on the word-of-mouth scene and during a time where organically sharing music and videos were taboo. And it worked - 60 years later, the band still remains one of the top artists and bands of all time, and this Symphonic Concerto to celebrate the anniversary is just a testament to their longstanding appeal. And I mean, come on - no other legacy band has as many jam artists who keep the message and the music alive like The Dead - and it’s exactly why you have to come and to see the line up we got for y’all, right here at Red Rocks on July 6th.
If you haven’t seen a Grateful Dead cover band performance yet, we’re happy to welcome you to Red Rocks for this 60th anniversary show this summer. We can’t wait to see you on the dance floor, see you July 6th!
