Suicideboys is a highly unique hip-hop duo comprising cousins Scrim and Ruby Da Cherry. These two rappers represent an underground subgenre of hip-hop that infuses their music with punk and metal. Early in their career, Suicideboys, along with several other “shock rap” artists, are burgeoning rap stars who are gaining remarkable momentum in the Soundcloud music streaming app. Their early hits could not be found on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, but they are amassing an incredible amount of streams.
In 2018, Suicideboys dropped their debut album, I Want to Die in New Orleans. The album spawned highly-acclaimed singles “Carrolton” and “Meet Mr. Nice Guy,” which became their first effort to enter the Billboard 200, peaking at number 9. For a self-produced and self-released group, this was an amazing feat. Not only did their first record enter the U.S. chart, it also dominated the music charts in ten other countries.
After their phenomenal debut, Suicideboys released their sophomore effort, Long Term Effects of Suffering, in 2021. The record topped Billboard’s Independent chart and peaked at number 2 and 7 on the Top Rap Albums and Billboard 200. The duo’s worldwide fans didn’t disappoint because the album entered the charts in eight other countries.
Last year, Suicideboys released “The Evil That Men Do” and “Escape from Babylon.” These two singles are spawned from their latest studio album, Sing Me a Lullaby, My Sweet Temptation.
The pair will be joined by the eclectic hip-hop duo City Morgue. The shock trap powerhouse has been known to infuse punk, metal, rock, and rap, and their knack for musical experiments led them to become a distinguished force in the rap-metal industry. The duo, comprising Zillakami and SosMula, worked extensively as producers for renowned rapper 6ix9ine. Today, City Morgue has released three studio efforts, with another one on the way. Meanwhile, Solo singer-songwriter and rapper Ghostemane will also be performing on this coveted date. Ghostmane has been a prominent force in the underground Soundcloud rap scene since 2015 and has released eight studio albums, including the career-defining 2018 effort N/O/I/S/E.
