The Head and The Heart have turned a new and exciting corner and a fresh beginning that embodies everything the band set out to do. In 2014, after a long haul of touring, the six members, that have bonded and become like a family decided to emerge from what they were used to and gather all of their inspirations and influences into one form once again. As each of them went on a traveling adventure, they reunited to bring their fans music that gathered what they had learnt from each of their experiences.
"When I found out we were going to have a significant amount of time off, I saw it as an opportunity to touch base again — to listen to what other people were saying and what they were going through, I really wanted to make sure that I reconnected with a world that was starting to feel farther and farther away.”
Zasche recalls. “We stayed at a bungalow on the beach. We’d wake up, have coffee and go boogie boarding. We were ready and excited to be back together.”
“This album isn’t about us now having achieved our dreams,” says Thielen. “The day we started being able to live off our art was the day we achieved our dreams, in my mind. This is the album where we really fell into our true voices as those artists.”
With their new direction, The Heart and The Heart took to the studio right in the heart of Nashville and worked with producer Jay Joyce on their album "Signs of Light," having worked with the likes of Cage The Elephant and Eric Church, Jay brought a feel good vibe to the tracks and the record gave many opportunities to create a sing-along style at their live shows.
The band are currently back on tour and bringing all that they have gained over the last few years to the stage, with Josiah Johnson (vocals, guitar, percussion) and Jonathan Russell (vocals, guitar, percussion). The group also includes Charity Rose Thielen (violin, guitar, vocals), Chris Zasche (bass), Kenny Hensley (piano), and Tyler Williams (drums)… but unfortunately since 2016, Johnson has been on hiatus due to health-related issues. That hasn't stopped them from continuing what they do best and so far they have brought their music to North America and Europe.
2019 brings another US tour, giving fans another chance to catch them LIVE! Come and show your love and support for one of indie folk's finest!
