Widespread Panic is Back and Bigger Than Ever!

Right off the bat of the group’s emergence from a long break in Atlantic City, NJ, Widespread Panic is exciting fans once again! They have just announced the 2025 return of eagerly awaited June weekend at Morrison, Colorado’s legendary Red Rocks Amphitheatre from June 27th - 29th. 

Last year, Widespread Panic played at the iconic Denver-area natural amphitheater and it was history-making!! But one month later, before they could perform another gig, the group issued some news that sent shockwaves through its fans: “The Widespread Panic Family is sad to report that our Brother, Jimmy Herring, has been diagnosed with stage 1 tonsil cancer,” the Athens, GA rockers said. “He will begin treatment immediately and is expected to make a full recovery. That part we’re happy to report.”

In just a matter of days, the six piece had cleared its schedule of all forthcoming appearances. Months passed as worried Widespread Panic fans waited for an update. 2024 wrapped up without the band’s yearly Halloween, New Year’s, and Panic en la Playa parties, though they did treat fans with the August drop of Hailbound Queen. This was their second new studio drop in almost a decade, after June’s awesome Snake Oil King. 

Before 2024 drew to a close, Widespread Panic had planned its first concerts since Jimmy Herring’s diagnosis in Atlantic City. Several announcements soon followed, with eagerly awaited 2025 runs plotted in St. Augustine, Charleston, Nashville, and Chicago. For a family of musicians and fanbase tragically familiar with cancer’s unforgiving nature, each set of appearances came with a combined sigh of relief. Jimmy Herring was okay. After an awesome weekend in Atlantic City this year, it seems safe to say the Widespread Panic is back and better than ever.
